SINGLE
COPTIC STITCH
Single-station
Coptic sewing can be used where single panels need to be joined in codex
style.
There
will be no fold to sew through. Each station is sewn with one needle
in isolation.

1. Thread your needle with strong linen thread that has been waxed.
You will need a needle for each sewing station.
2. Place the back cover or panel on your work surface.
3. Start sewing on the inside of the back panel.
4. Pass your needle through the hole, sew around the spine edge and
tie off.

5.
Place
your next panel on top of the last.
6. Pass your needle through the hole on the second panel from the bottom
of the top. Come out between the panels to the right of your stitch

7.
Pass your needle through the stitch on the previous panel.

Place another panel on the top of the last.

Pass your needle through the next panel from bottom to top.

Pass your needle behind the two threads that lie over the spine edge
of the previous panel.
8. For each new panel go back to + and complete the three steps.
9. To tie-off after completing the three steps for the last panel (usually
the front cover):

Pass your needle through the panel from top to bottom.
--Tie-off inside.
