Many years ago, the Guild would hold a regular competition for its members. The current Guild committee have resolved to revive such a splendid notion, although it is uncertain yet whether this will be an annual or biannual event. In any case, we are proud to announce that the first competition will be this year!
The title is: Trad_Alt 2010
The competition will have two categories: Traditional Binding and Alternative Binding, hence the title of the show. There will be a modest first prize for each category, with an additional encouragement award as added incentive to encourage all members to have a go, no matter their skill level.
All entries will be exhibited at the Civic Library from 1 to 14 October. The judge will be Dianne Fogwell, respected local printmaker and book artist. Winners will be announced at the exhibition opening.
All financial Guild members are eligible to participate, with no more than 2 entries per category permitted per member. Entry is free.
The deadline for entry submissions is 10 SEPTEMBER 2010, and each entry must be accompanied by a colophon* and a short statement.
If you have further questions about the competition or exhibition, please contact a Guild Committee Member.
We hope that this inspires you to get working, and we look forward to seeing your efforts!
Entries to be submitted (deposit address TBA): 10 September 2010
Exhibition opening: 1 October 2010
